Our take

I picked up the DDJ-FLX2 as my first controller and it's been a solid learning tool. It's compact and USB powered, so I can practice anywhere with my laptop. The 8 pads are great for triggering samples and hot cues, and the software integration with both Serato and rekordbox is seamless. For $175, it's hard to beat. But there are trade-offs: the build feels a bit plasticky, and the jog wheels are small and not very responsive for scratching. Also, with only one mic input and limited line/phono inputs, you're constrained if you want to connect external gear. It's perfect for bedroom mixing, but you'll likely want to upgrade once you get serious.
